All Saints Day at Olšanské hřbitovy (Olšany Cemetery)

Spied this church on my way to run in Letná Park.

Svatý Kliment (St. Clement) is the oldest religious building in Prague 7 (our district). First mention of it occurred in 1234. Originally Romanesque, it was reconstructed in Gothic style. Following a fire in 1603 it was rebuilt in early Baroque but retains elements of Romanesque and Gothic.

It was the parish church for the area until a massive surge in population occurred in the late 1800s rendering the building woefully inadequate for the masses.

As a result, construction of Svatý Antonin (St. Anthony) began in 1908 and was completed in 1914, providing room for the parishioners and a magnificent view for our future apartment.

No one's been buried in the cemetery since 1886.

Svatý Kliment is open for visitors once a month for 2.5 hours.

    1. Um, yes, but they'll need to practice a little first.
